Happy Birthday to me?!

/ Posted on October 12th, 2010

Let me just start by expressing how addicted to birthdays I am!  Not just mine, but everyone’s.  I love to celebrate birthdays. Don’t tell me when your birthday is because I will be the annoying friend who does the countdown… the over happy birthday-ing.. the text at midnight.. all of it. I love to celebrate life!

With all that said.. normally with my own birthdays I do the “birthday week”  I tell everyone.. I am super pumped.. I count down my own days hahah!

Well for some reason this year I was simply like “Whatever!”

It didnt hold any special feelings.. Maybe because I turned……. 29! EEP!

I really dont know what it was. I just felt very drab about my birthday.  My husband (being as awesome as he is).. Planned the whole day for us. He cooked breakfast.. we went to the fair.. I got some AMAZING career news.. (that I will share in a few weeks :)  We ate fried junk food all day , went to a movie and just had fun!   I woke up yesteday in the BEST mood. I was singing and dancing around , excited for my birthday.   I dont know what it was that got me in a b-day funk.. but whatever it was took a fast train back to funkville.  So now that its the day after.. I am glad to be 29.  My last year of my 20′s and its going to be a hell of a ride.   Now next year my blog might not be so happy :)

Did anyone else get like that on their 29th birthday??

Dairy Free is the way to be?

/ Posted on June 8th, 2010

Ok so…. as of June 1st.. i have been Dairy Free. NO Milk, NO cheese, NO ice cream or yogurt.  I was doing it as a cleanse type thingy. Also wanted to see how i felt and all that yada yada!  Well I am on day 9! I feel really good.  My body is great and is warding off cravings after about a week and a half!  I don't drink milk to begin with (Almond milk is the substitute)  and the only real dairy i consumed was CHEESE… and a lot of it!

I never realized just HOW much cheese I consumed until June 1st.  At the grocery store, checking every ingredient… at restaurants ordering things without cheese or sour cream!  I ate a sh*t load of cheese.  I remember telling my husband, " I don't eat that much dairy to begin with so this might be easy"  He said " are you kidding? you eat ALOT of cheese.. we both do."  The more I thought about what he said the more I believe it now!  I EAT ALOT OF CHEESE!

Whole Foods has been my savior, my light at the end of the tunnel. (dramatic)  I first started off with "Almond Cheese"- cheese made from almonds not milk. WORST IDEA EVER.  The consistency was good but the taste… lets just say it was like bland rubber.  I tried to eat it with a smile on my face but after 3-4 bites down I couldn't anymore.

My second choice was Veggie Slices (made with Soy).  Flavors come in cheddar and pepper jack.  Now this was better.  Comes pre- sliced just like ol' Kraft singles.  It isn't too bad.  I eat meat (don't hate) and I made a burger last night. Slapped 2 pieces of cheddar Veggie Slices on it and chowed down!  It was very good and satisfied my craving.

Now onto sweets.  I'm a HUGE fan of dark chocolate. Not that fake crap called semi-sweet chocolate, but REAL 70% cocao (the stuff that puts hair on your chest) Most dark chocolate isn't made with cream so i'm safe there.  Whole foods sells a brand called "SoDelicious"  These products are made of Coconut milk instead of cow utter milk.  I purchased their Coconut milk ice cream sandwiches which surprisingly were better for you than Tofuttis!  They also make a Coconut milk breakfast yogurt which has the same consistency as regular yogurt and tastes great with granola and fruit!

I will make an update when I finish my Dairy Free diet. I was going to do it for 2 weeks but i'm starting to feel really good so I am extending it to a month.  July 1st I will see if I will continue to be dairy free or if ill slide back into a cheese coma.

to be continued….

here is a website i found .. for research and crap

Sex and the City 2

/ Posted on May 28th, 2010

Well I'm just going to say it… I was not impressed.  It was good to watch but maybe if it was on TV… for free… on a Monday night!  I do suggest waiting til its on DVD!

Here are my cliff notes of the movie..

1. GREAT FASHION

2. In the beginning there is a guy named "Nikki" (straight groomsmen) who is super hot

3. I love Samantha's YSL earrings

4. SJP got a boob job in real life

5. Too much motherly angst

6. Now I want to take a trip to Abu Dhabi

7. BIG is annoying with his droopy eye lids

8. There was no real plot to the whole thing

9.  The movie had alot of "filler" jokes that weren't so funny

10. SJP- I miss your mole

THE END

I was never a fan of the TV show when it was on 12 years ago.  Before the movie came out (the 1st one)  My roommate Drew and I rented all the seasons and watched them… Yes, ladies he is straight :)  I needed to catch up/understand what the whole CRAZE was about.  To be honest I really like (still do) the first SATC movie.

Good luck if you decide to see it on the silver screen… there is a comment section below , tell me your 1-10 thoughts of the movie.. unless you only have 1 and that is it sucked

Nokia RAC Canada Trip

/ Posted on May 27th, 2010

I just returned from an amazing trip to Canada where I interviewed two bands for Nokia’s Royal Artist Club! I started the trip in beautiful Vancouver where I sat down with rockers Danko Jones before they played their sold out show at Venue. They were extremely nice, very fun and their live show was insane. Check out my RAC blog for some photos and more info!

The second leg of my trip found me in Winnipeg where I interviewed the hardcore band Comeback Kid! Another amazing band and really nice group of guys!

Be on the lookout for these interviews and a whole lot more on RoyalArtistClub.com!

I would also highly recommend you check out the first part of a documentary series we’re doing call “Home, The Documentary”. In this first chapter you get to hear Apocalyptica, the Finnish symphonic metal band, share some very intimate details about “home” and what it means to them and how they got to where they are today. I hope you enjoy it!
