The Texas Rangers

/ Posted on October 27th, 2010

As most of you know the Texas Rangers have stomped the NY Yankees and made it to the World Series! Well I wanted to give a little background of the good ol Rangers.

Personally I never was a baseball fan. Basketball was the only sport that really peeked my interest. Well after meeting my husband, that all changed. He is severely in love with baseball. He played baseball in High School and College.  After watching a few games and really giving it a chance.. I started digging it. I noticed myself knowing more of the players and signals. It helped also watching him be so passionate about it. Getting really pumped during the games… yelling at the TV.. I was hooked. Now we watch all the games together. Now that the Rangers have made it to the world series i am PUMPED. Looking at their history and how hard they have worked!

The Texas Rangers are a professional baseball team that plays in Major League Baseball. The Rangers play in the West Division of the American League. The official colors of the Texas Rangers are red, white, blue, and gray.

In franchise history, they had made only three post-season appearances in 49 years, with no playoff series wins and only one road playoff game win. In 2010, the Rangers rewrote their history and won the 2010 American League Division Series against the Tampa Bay Rays, then their first American League pennant against the New York Yankees. They will represent the American League in the 2010 World Series vs the San Francisco Giants.

As many of you have seen… the new hand gestures the Rangers have been sporting.. the “claw” and the “antlers

The Bear Claw became the symbol of strength and power—it was displayed after a base hit when a player safely reached base.  Even a successful sacrifice fly would earn a show of the claw.  We also use the Claw on our pitchers making that punch-out, strike-out happen, too.

The Antlers simply mean speed and agility—they are earned by stretching a base hit into extra bases or a by stealing a base.  Ranger fielders would be rewarded the Antler by the fans in the stands for a heads-up play on defense.

Now that you are up to speed … (unless you are a Giants fan.. or a butt-hurt Yankees fan) Lets watch the Rangers beat the Giants and make baseball history !!!

xoxo,
Jayme Foxx

PS – I love the image above. Nothing is better than seeing A-Fraud strikeout to end the game and the series while our boys celebrate their victory and his defeat!
